INTRODUCTION
The idea of the FRI - Official World Fan Ranking
was born in 1999. Simply because there was a great need
for a reliable, independent, global ranking where football
fans would be involved by voting for their favorite's.
FRI introduced a new ranking method which has been
proven to be a very reliable and simple measure for comparing
football players, keepers, coaches, clubs, sponsors, national
teams, stadiums and referees. FRI has chosen to rank these
categories in order to make this ranking as interesting
as possible. We hope you will have fun and join us in
creating the most reliable and dynamic fan ranking in
the world. FANS
FIRST FRI generates new rankings
which have, according to specialists, advantages over
other current rankings.
The most important advantage is that the value of the
ranking is a measurement of the fans' thoughts. This is
one of the characteristics an ideal ranking system should
include. This fact is also a unique point in comparison
to other football rankings. Most current rankings are
created without any input from fans. FRI believes that
not just the officials, journalists, magazines or any
other select group of 'experts' should give an opinion
on who can be called 'most favorite' or 'the best'.
It are the players and the fans that have made this game
to what it is. As the fans attend every single match,
bring the atmosphere and know everything about their favourite
player and club, it should be them to make up the rankings.
This ranking method allows for every single fan to decide
how much importance should be given to any aspect that
makes football the most loved game in the world.
FRI has more advantages like the use of databases containing
additional information on the ranking catagories and a
many years experience in the internet-based data-mining.
FRI is fully equipped to update the databases on a day-to-day
basis. The rankings are updates every 15 minutes.
A RELIABLE RANKING METHOD
In order to reach a high level of reliability
FRI has created a new ranking method including the following
key features.
1] Only active players, keepers, coaches and referees
are compared;
2] Only fans decide who is favourite;
3] Each vote is linked to a fan by name and e-mail address;
4] All fans have a personal profile in which their votes
are saved or can be changed in the future;
5] Dynamic nature, updated every 15 minutes;
6] Indirectly affected by all information fans get about
their favorites. This means the results of the ranking
can change considerably within a single day after a serious
incident has occurred.
Compared to most other rankings FRI is not directly affected
by
1] Amount of matches [nationally or internationally] won,
lost or drawn;
2] Amount of goals scored;
3] Yellow or red cards received;
4] Transfers;
5] A given period.
If for example a yellow or red card is given to a player,
some rankings are affected immediately. We feel however
that a referee is human and therefore is not always able
to be a 100% right all the time. Therefore if a player
is wrongfully accused of making a foul, he should not
be punished in a ranking. But perhaps the referee should.
A RANKING AS SIMPLE AS
POSSIBLE The indexation of
each ranking is created through a simple formula. The
total amount of votes for a player (i.e.) is divided by
the total amount of votes given to all the players together.
This results in a percentage which is shown in the rankings.
The more votes your favorites get the higher their positions.
The index only shows the top performers who are still
active and excludes top performers from the past. Naturally
you can add as many favorites as you wish. However a new
favorite needs a minimum of 100 votes to be activated.
Next to that you can search the rankings to see on which
position your favorite is ranked. Top
Performers of the Past
A Player, Keeper, Coach or Referee that ends his career
will be taken out of the ranking and the voting menu.
Former Players could be added to the 'Legends' ranking
in the Hall of Fame. A former Player that starts a new
career as a Coach will be added to the Coach ranking.
This means he now needs to be judged as a Coach, starting
with 0 votes. Fans could change their votes whenever they
like. YOUR PERSONAL
DETAILS Firstly you can generate
only one profile from each IP address. This means you
can enter the site and share your initial votes. Having
done this the computer system generates a unique personal
profile for you and the system will send you an e-mail
which gives you a unique ID and password.
We want to inform you that this is only done to verify
your e-mail address. Afterwards you can immediately log
in for the first time and check out the possibilities
of the Fan Zone. Each time you want to change your opinion
about one or more categories you simply can make an adjustment.
If you change your vote, one vote will be taken off your
former favorite and one vote will be added to your new
choice. This means that no matter how many times fans
change their votes the ranking stays as reliable as can
be. So visit the Interactive Zone and have some fun! |
